Carter Belfort: From Intern to VP – The Wolf of Wall Street’s Son’s Rise

Everyone who’s watched ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ knows the infamous story of Jordan Belfort, a powerful Long Island stockbroker who lived a seemingly successful and luxurious life—until he got arrested in 1999 for financial fraud. He spent almost two years in prison for his crimes.

Although his arrest was highly publicized, not many are aware of the people directly impacted by the highs and lows of Jordan’s life, and who stood by his side through it all: his family.

This includes his beloved only son, Carter Belfort, who grew up surrounded by luxury but soon faced public scrutiny because of his father’s legal troubles and controversial lifestyle. In this post, we’ll take a close look at Carter’s life, from his father’s arrest to where he is today.

Who Is Carter Belfort? Personal Facts and Family Details

Carter James Belfort is a 29-year-old American businessman and the son of former Wall Street stockbroker and now prominent author and speaker, Jordan Ross Belfort. Jordan is best known for the film, The Wolf of Wall Street, which is based on his first tell-all memoir.

Carter’s mother is Nadine Macaluso, a British-born, Brooklyn-raised model, psychotherapist, and internet personality. Carter also has one elder sister, Chandler Belfort, and three half-sisters from his mother’s second marriage. They are Nikki, Allie, and Frankie Macaluso.

Nadine and Jordan, Carter’s parents, originally met at a party, back when Jordan was still involved in the fast-paced world of Wall Street. Their relationship blossomed and they eventually decided to get married and have kids, naming them Carter and Chandler.

Unfortunately, Jordan’s destructive and chaotic lifestyle caused a strain on his marriage. The couple divorced in 2005, with Nadine accusing Jordan of domestic violence, infidelity, and drug abuse. This event, along with his father’s imprisonment, deeply affected Carter’s childhood.

What’s more, Jordan had a reputation for financial greed, and in 1999, he pleaded guilty to multiple crimes, including financial fraud, stock market manipulation, and a penny stock scam.

His firm, Stratton Oakmont, had defrauded many shareholders, resulting in the arrest of many executives and the closing of the firm in 1996. Meanwhile, Jordan agreed to become an informant for the FBI and wore a wire, testifying against his former partners and associates.

Jordan was sentenced to four years in prison but ultimately served only 22 months in exchange for a plea deal. He was also ordered by the court to pay over $110 million in restitution.

What Is Jordan Belfort Doing Now? Life After Prison

Additionally, Jordan started a whole new career as a motivational speaker and established his own company, Global Motivation, Inc. During his speeches, he would often talk about the line between greed, ambition, and passion on Wall Street.

Jordan also provides corporate training, with the aim of nurturing effective sales teams, as well as workshops on investing and related topics.
