Bill Murray is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, known for his roles in Ghostbusters (1984), Groundhog Day (1993), and Zombieland (2009). He has appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows and earned numerous accolades throughout his career. But despite his booming fame, little is known about Bill Murray’s children.
Bill Murray has six boys with two women. His first wife was Margaret Kelly, and they had two sons: Homer, born in 1982, and Luke, born in 1985. They were married from 1981 until their divorce in 1996.
Following his marriage to Kelly, Murray wed Jennifer Butler in 1997 and welcomed four more sons: Caleb in 1993, Jackson in 1995, Cooper in 1997, and Lincoln in 2005.

Homer Murray is Bill Murray’s oldest son, born on March 3, 1982. His mother, Margaret Kelly, was Bill Murray’s first wife. They got married in 1981 and divorced in 1996 due to Bill Murray’s violent, abusive, and erratic behavior and addiction to alcohol and marijuana.
Little is known about Homer’s childhood or the extent of Bill Murray’s involvement following his divorce from Margaret Kelly when Homer was only 16. However, we do know that Bill and Homer now have a great relationship.
Homer was once a photography assistant, which allowed him to travel around the world and taste various cuisines in his free time. His passion for food is what led him to seek out a career in the food industry.
After working as a chef in the early 2000s, Homer decided to take the plunge and open his own restaurant in 2012. He named the restaurant River Styx and it quickly gained popularity in the Brooklyn area.
In 2016, Homer and his business partner Syd Silver renovated the restaurant and renamed it 21 Green Point. Bill Murray made an appearance at the opening, serving drinks and interacting with customers. He also indulged himself with a few drinks and even sang along to The Rolling Stones’ Start Me Up and War’s Why Can’t We Be Friends.
When asked to give a speech, Bill said to the room of 100 people that he was happy that Homer didn’t continue the family business. “He has taken the joy of the family – to have a drink, to have a meal, and have friends together—and made it his life’s work,” Bill said.
“My dad has been very supportive,” Homer later told the New York Post. “He didn’t do this because I asked him to, or because he thought it would drum up business. He did it because he wanted to.”
Bill Murray also teamed up with Homer on The Food Network’s “Nacho Challenge” to raise money for the Restaurant Employees Relief Fund. Their efforts were part of a larger campaign that raised over $22 million to aid restaurant workers.

Bill and Luke appear to have a close relationship, with the actor often spotted in the stands cheering for his son. Bill was among the crowd celebrating during the NCAA Men’s Championship game, where Luke helped the Huskies secure a victory.
In 2015, Bill skipped the Emmy Awards—where he won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Mini-series—to attend Luke’s wedding in Philadelphia.
